ECO-Block showcased in number of high-profile projects
(Press Release)

Building upon the success over the last several years, ECO-Block, LLC is reporting continued growth in the early parts of 2003.  Some of the highlighted products and programs include:

Located in Brownwood, TX, the Veterans Administration Community Outpatient Clinic is an approximately 11,000 square-foot building situated in Memorial Park Medical Center's 36-acre development community. "When we discussed building the VA clinic, we were most impressed with ECO-Block because of its long-term benefits," said Bill Ruth, attorney and principle owner of Wesleyan Development Corporation, which developed the Memorial Park Medical Center. "With energy prices going up, people are getting more concerned about rising utility costs. ECO-Block's energy efficiency can result in significant savings on heating and cooling. And we know that ECO-Block structures can stand up to strong winds and tornados. That's something we're familiar with in central Texas."

In Vancouver, British Columbia, between 40,000-50,000 people toured the Home in the Dome at the recent BC Home & Garden Show.  The Home in the Dome was a one-story, 1300-square-foot house built exclusively for the home show that ran February 19-23. Constructed with ECO-Block, one of the nation's most sought-after insulating concrete forms (ICFs), the home resided inside the BC Place Stadium. It was the first ICF home built for a Canadian home show.  "These numbers show how hungry people are for this kind of construction," said Irv Lenz, manager of Rempel Bros., an ECO-Block distributor. "Demonstrating the beauty of concrete like this was a real eye-opener to those who think of concrete as cold and stale. For many, we completely changed the way concrete is viewed. And we showed the benefits first-hand."  To download photos of the Home in the Dome, visit http://www.bcrmca.bc.ca/icf/

In Wichita, KS, the walls of the new Wichita Area Builders Association headquarters will soon offer one more feature: the 2003 Keeper of the Plains award for architectural achievement, given by the Wichita Area Chamber of Commerce.  Just a few years ago, WABA had inadequate meeting space and costly maintenance bills. Rather than modify the old building, WABA officials chose to build a new one with ECO-Block insulating concrete forms (ICFs), one of the nation's most sought-after ICF systems. Today, in addition to 9600 square feet of space utilized by the association, the building offers the advantages of quality and durability from the inside out.

ECO-Block was involved with Pennsylvania's first LEED-registered school, Clearview Elementary. Clearview was also one of five buildings selected nationwide to represent the U.S. team at the 2002 GBC Sustainable Buildings Conference held last fall in Oslo, Norway.  Download images of Clearview Elementary or learn more about the school and see photos of the school's opening.
