Quad-Lock Completes First Residential ICF Home (walls and floors) in BC
(Press Release)
Vancouver, BC - January 2003 marks the completion of the first fully built residential home out of Insulated Concrete Forms s (ICFs) made and distributed by Quad-Lock Building Systems. The custom designed, 3800 square foot home is located in West Vancouver and was built using ICF walls and floors, all the way up to the roof.
Quad-Lock's ICF System was chosen for a number of reasons, but namely because of the solidity and energy efficiency that it offers. With R-values of up to R-40, Quad-Lock buildings consume up to 90% less energy than conventional stick frame construction. With concrete poured walls, the finished product can never rot and is extremely safe, protecting its residents against natural disasters such as fire and hurricanes.

Contractor, Gregg Yanke of Yanke Development, confessed that this was his first project using the Quad-Lock system. He was impressed with the strength and uniformity of the walls and with the speed and ease with which the crew was able to form the walls. The walls were stacked and poured ten feet at a time and when all was said and done, the walls were extremely straight.
Yanke summarized the benefits of building with Quad-Lock saying that there was no compromise in design, increased insulation value, speed of construction with approximately 3800 square feet of house in ten days, and that the cost is comparable to traditional custom home building with greater built-in quality.
