In Southeast Florida we use several types of stucco:

  1. Bonding agent on the forms, with metal lath screwed to polysteel metal furring strips and regular mortar stucco on top.
  2. Bonding agent on the forms with fiberglass (EIFS-type) mesh screwed to metal strips or floated in with mortar-based scratch coat. Some builders remove the Polysteel crimped-on metal furring strips on the outsided and bond/float fiberglass mesh over the exposed expanded metal form tie steel.
  3. Bonding agent and regular mortar stucco with chopped fiberglass mixed in with the scratch coat.
  4. An EIFS type stucco system.
